14th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets ended lower on Thursday as the bond yields steadied after inflation goes to its highest level in recent 40 years. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 0.05%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.84% and 1.71%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.16%), the Dax 30 (+0.13%), CAC 40 (-0.50%) and the STOXX (-0.01%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.96%), HSI (+0.11%) and the Shanghai Composite (-1.17%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.71, while the 2 - year note was at 0.893%. Oil was up to $84.08 per barrel, down 0.70%. The gold price was at US$1821.77 per ounce, down 0.19%.
