The US market closed lower on Tuesday, easing from record highs as hotter-than-expected inflation data and an increasingly tenuous US-Iran ceasefire prompted investors to take money off the table near the end of a robust first-quarter earnings season.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.11%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.16% and 0.71% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.04%), the Dax 30 (-1.62%), CAC 40 (-0.95%) and the STOXX (-1.48%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.52%), HSI (-0.22%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.25%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.465%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.994%. Oil was up to $102.04 per barrel, up 4.05%. The gold price was at US$4722.00 per ounce, down 0.14%.
