The US market closed higher on Friday but showed declines for the week, which was marked by investor jitters over fluctuating government bond yields and a lack of clarity on progress in the Middle East.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.98%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.43% and 0.43% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.64%), the Dax 30 (+0.59%), CAC 40 (+0.37%) and the STOXX (+0.63%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.30%), HSI (+1.21%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.24%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.736%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.24%. Oil was down to $86.64 per barrel, down 0.22%. The gold price was at US$4661.60 per ounce, up 1.97%.
