US markets closed lower on Monday as US Treasury yields hit two-year highs, while oil fell as the cease-fire talks between Russia and Ukraine are heading in the right direction.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.10%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.86% and 2.09%, respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.53%), the Dax 30 (+2.21%), CAC 40 (+1.75%) and the STOXX (+1.47%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.58%), HSI (-4.97%) and the Shanghai Composite (-2.60%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 2.144%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.863%. Oil was down to $105.4 per barrel, down 6.43%. The gold price was at US$1954.89 per ounce, down 1.67%.
