Delegat Group, New Zealand's largest listed winemaker, said managing director Graeme Lord will step down in July 2018 after four years in the role and 19 years with the company.

"With this advance notice, we are well placed to undertake an executive search process and manage a seamless transition to a new managing director,” said executive chairman Jim Delegat, who said Lord played has played a key role in the company's global success.

Last month Delegat lifted its guidance for operating profit and said it had achieved record case sales of 2.656 million cases, beating its own target.

The shares fell 2.9 percent to $6.80 and have gained almost 20 percent in the past 12 months.
