NZME - Appointment of new Chair

AUCKLAND, 4 June 2025: NZME Limited (NZX: NZM , ASX: NZM) (“NZME”) advises that the NZME Board has confirmed Steven Joyce as Chair, effective immediately.

Mr Joyce was appointed as an independent director at NZME’s Annual Shareholders’ Meeting held yesterday.

My Joyce has extensive business leadership and governance experience gained through a successful career in media and government, establishing and building RadioWorks NZ Ltd over 14 years. He then served as campaign chair for the National Party for five general elections and was a New Zealand government minister for nine years, including Minister of Finance. He is an Independent Director of Winton Land Ltd, The Icehouse Ltd, and Icehouse Ventures Ltd. He is also an independent board advisor to project management firm RCP New Zealand Ltd.

In the recent King’s Birthday Honours, Mr Joyce was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services as a Member of Parliament.

My Joyce says: “I have a long history in the New Zealand media industry, and I am a firm believer in the role of the industry in sharing and celebrating New Zealand stories and experiences. As Chair I’m focused on ensuring NZME continues to build shareholder value through its platforms and our audiences.

“The Board and leadership of NZME have set up a solid foundation for the future and I am ready to take that opportunity forward.”

Mr Joyce replaces Barbara Chapman, who resigned at the conclusion of the 2025 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting. Ms Chapman became Chair of the NZME Board in 2020 and helped guide the business through periods of significant change. The Board would like to thank Ms Chapman for her significant contribution to NZME.
