Securities Commission Director, Primary Markets Kathryn Rogers has resigned after over 10 years with the Commission and leaves at the end of February.

Rogers worked on high profile cases including the telecommunications enquiry in 2005 and a number of investigations of breaches of the law by contributory mortgage brokers that saw some brokers banned from the industry, and led to several successful prosecutions.

Over the past two years a major focus of her work has been investigating troubled and failed finance companies. This included 71 charges being laid against nine directors of Bridgecorp and Nathans.

Chairman Jane Diplock says, "Kathryn has made an invaluable contribution which has been pivotal to the Commission's growing role. She will be missed by us all and I wish her well".

Rogers joined the Commission's legal team in 1999 and was made Director, Primary Markets in 2005.

In this role she led the Commission's work on surveillance and enforcement of the disclosure laws for offers of securities.

The Securities Commission also has a new member Shelley Cave.

She joins the Commission in February for a term of five years, replacing Cathy Quinn who was been a member for nine years.

She is a partner at Simpson Grierson, specialising in corporate and securities law, a member of the New Zealand Venture Capital Association and the Institute of Directors.
