Television New Zealand chief executive Kevin Kenrick has been appointed to the board of lender Bank of New Zealand.

Kenrick will join the board from July 1 as a non-executive director, replacing one of two departing members, former Fletcher Group executive Susan Macken and founding Landcare Research chief Andy Pearce. Kenrick is currently the CEO of TVNZ and has previously headed up House of Travel and held senior executive roles at Spark New Zealand when it was still Telecom Corp.

"To appoint a board member of Kevin’s calibre is a welcome addition to the bank’s governance," chairman Doug McKay said in a statement. "He is a seasoned executive and marketer with an understanding of industries experiencing significant disruption through digital channels. He understands how it impacts the customer experience."

BNZ's board is rounded out by managing director Anthony Healy, National Australia Bank executives Gavin Slater and Michaela Healy, corporate lawyer Prudence Flacks, former banker Stephen Moir, lawyer Mai Chen, and PwC New Zealand head Bruce Hassall.
