On 3 July 2026, Freightways Group Limited (Freightways) announced Mark Cairns' intention to step down as Director and Chair of Freightways. Effective today, Mark Cairns announces his resignation from the Board and the appointment of David Gibson, currently a Director on the Board, as Chair.
Mark Cairns commented:
“It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of Freightways over the past four years. I congratulate David on his appointment as Chair following the Board’s succession process. I thank my fellow directors for their support during my tenure and wish all at Freightways every success for the future.”
The Board and Management would like to thank Mark for his stewardship of the group during a period of time marked by extraordinary volatility and turbulence, while also overseeing a period of strong growth for Freightways, particularly in Australia, following the acquisitions of Allied Express and VTFE.
The new Chair, David Gibson, commented:
"It's a privilege to be appointed as Chair of Freightways. Freightways’ diversified model continues to provide opportunities for growth, and we are ambitious about realising them. I look forward to continuing to work with the Board and management to deliver on that ambition."
