The US market closed lower on Monday, ahead of a packed week that includes AI giant Nvidia's earnings and the resumption of government data releases, while Alphabet rose after Bershire Hathaway disclosed a stake in the company.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.27%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.32% and 1.26% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.24%), the Dax 30 (-1.20%), CAC 40 (-0.63%) and the STOXX (-0.93%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.10%), HSI (-0.71%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.46%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.133%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.604%. Oil was up to $59.73 per barrel, up 0.37%. The gold price was at US$4015.14 per ounce, down 1.93%.
