The US market closed a record-high on Monday, lifted by gains in Advanced Micro Devices and other AI heavyweights, while Treasury yields retreated from recent highs and crude prices tumbled to an 11-day low on speculation about a potential breakthrough in Middle East talks at a UN meeting this week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.71%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 1.49% and 2.26% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.75%), the Dax 30 (+1.07%), CAC 40 (+0.92%) and the STOXX (+1.31%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.38%), HSI (+1.18%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.94%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.951%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.751%. Oil was down to $91.96 per barrel, down 4.29%. The gold price was at US$4381.75 per ounce, down 0.98%.
