Wesfarmers says committed to NZ, donates to appeal

Australian company Wesfarmers, which employs 5500 people in New Zealand, is donating NZ$1 million to the Prime Minister's New Zealand Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

Wesfarmers owns Bunnings, Kmart, Blackwoods Paykels, Lumley General NZ, Crombie Lockwood, NZ Safety, Packaging House and Protector Safety, which collectively employ 5500 people across New Zealand.

The Perth-based company said it is a long term investor in New Zealand.
