The US market closed lower on Wednesday with falling technology shares, but gains in Meta Platforms provided some support along with comments from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh that inflation risks had eased recently.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.02%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.16% and 0.63% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.18%), the Dax 30 (+0.18%), CAC 40 (-0.79%) and the STOXX (-0.72%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.59%), HSI (-0.63%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.44%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.481%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.178%. Oil was down to $68.11 per barrel, down 2.00%. The gold price was at US$4047.90 per ounce, up 0.23%.
