The US market closed lower on Thursday as technology shares fell, while a softer-than-expected US jobs report eased worries that the Federal Reserve could feel impelled to hike interest rates soon.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.02%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.16% and 0.63% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+1.67%), the Dax 30 (+2.16%), CAC 40 (+1.65%) and the STOXX (+1.24%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-2.47%), HSI (+0.76%) and the Shanghai Composite (-2.03%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.485%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.137%. Oil was down to $68.49 per barrel, down 0.13%. The gold price was at US$4134.57 per ounce, up 1.28%.
