Contact boss heads to UK

Contact Energy's chief executive, Paul Anthony, is leaving to work for British Gas.

Mr Anthony will be finishing up with Contact in October.

Contact's chairman, Phil Pryke, says Mr Anthony has played an integral role in transforming the company from a disparate collection of assets into a leading Australasian gas and electricity supplier.

"We have been fortunate to have such a high-calibre individual with us for the past four years to effect our transition from an SOE to a publicly listed company."

Mr Pryke said the appointment reflected the competitive international market for experienced people in the energy sector, and an international search is underway for a replacement..

Last month long serving Air New Zealand CEO, Jim McCrea, resigned saying he was seeking "fresh challenges".
