James Miller has been appointed as an independent director of listed investment companies, Kingfish, Barramundi and Marlin Global.

Chairman, Rob Challinor says earlier this year a search was undertaken for new directors to refresh the Boards and they are delighted Miller has accepted the position.

"We welcome James' extensive capital markets and governance experience which we see as complementing the skills and experience of the existing Board members as we continue our drive to maximise shareholder value."

Miller will continue as a director of Auckland International Airport, NZX and Vector. Other directorships have included the Craigs Investment Partners Board, ABN AMRO Securities Board, INFINZ Board and Financial Reporting Standards Board.

Prior to his recent retirement as a director and head of NZ Wholesale Equities with Craigs Investment Partners in Auckland, Miller's roles included senior executive positions at ABN Amro as well as that of a research analyst with Barclays de Zoete Wedde (BZW).

Miller says it's an honour to be asked to become a director of the three listed investment companies.

"I expect that my background in investment markets and corporate governance should add value to these companies."

Miller's directorships take effect from 14 September and will run until the next Annual Shareholders Meeting of each company when he must retire and seek re-election by the shareholders.
