Loyalty New Zealand, the operator company of Fly Buys, has appointed Chris Lamers into a newly created role as head of customer engagement.

Chief executive Lance Walker says by creating this role the company is renewing its focus and emphasis on its customers.

"It should mean leveraging our capabilities for the benefit of shoppers and our partners, and even more innovative thinking from our team."

Lamers will work with the 53 brands involved in Fly Buys.

Loyalty's Account Management and Marketing Services teams will merge and form a Customer Engagement team.

Lamers will take up the new position this week after heading up the marketing team at Loyalty New Zealand for the past three years.

In his career, before joining Loyalty, he spent nearly seven years heading Positively Wellington Tourism's international and domestic marketing programmes.

His other former roles include heading up the International Media Programme at Tourism New Zealand, consultancy at public relations firm Presence (now Creo), and communications for Mount Cook Airlines.
