5th January 2022 Morning Report

U.S. stock markets closed mixed on Tuesday pulling back from record levels.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed higher +0.5%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.3% and 1.7%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (+1.63%), the Dax 30 (+0.82%), CAC 40 (+1.39%) and the STOXX (+0.83%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices were barely changed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.77%), HSI (+0.40%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.20%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.67%, while the 2 - year note was at 0.764%. Oil was up to $79.99 per barrel, up 1.28%. The gold price was at US$1814.50 per ounce, up 0.58%.
