17th January 2022 Morning Report

Dow Jones ended lower on Friday as the fourth-quarter results from big U.S. banks seem to be disappointing. 

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed - 0.56%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.08% and 0.59%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed higher as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.28%), the Dax 30 (-0.93%), CAC 40 (-0.81%) and the STOXX (-1.01%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended lower. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.28%), HSI (-0.19%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.96%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.79, while the 2 - year note was at 0.969%. Oil was up to $86.06 per barrel, up 1.88%. The gold price was at US$1817.43 per ounce, down 0.20%.
