The Christchurch earthquake will delay the release of several statistical updates over the next couple of days after Statistics New Zealand was forced to close its offices in the city.
The June quarter survey of manufacturing and the value of work put in place due tomorrow, and Thursday's release of last month's spending on electronic cards have been put off until further notice, the government department said in a statement.
Friday's accommodation survey is also delayed, though overseas trade data out on the same day, and second-quarter gross domestic product and balance of payments out next week are expected to be released on time.
The department's two Christchurch offices have been closed until at least tomorrow. Statistician Geoff Bascand will visit both offices on Thursday.
