TeamTalk has hired former Alcatel-Lucent NZ boss Andrew Miller as chief executive of the telecommunications network firm.
Miller will take up the role at the Wellington-based company in September, leaving Callaghan Innovation where he's been a commercial business general manager since April, TeamTalk said in a statement.
"The board considered a number of high-quality candidates but his commitment to innovation and commercial savvy made Andrew a stand-out choice," chairman Roger Sowry said. "Andrew has proven business development and negotiation skills alongside strategic and operational experience, delivering sustained growth, while managing complex infrastructure."
TeamTalk's managing director and founder David Ware announced his resignation in April, saying that after two decades he'd stayed on too long and acknowledged some of his behaviour had been "sub-optimal" and attracted complaints.
Last month TeamTalk said it wouldn't pay a final dividend this year because a new contract with Optus Satellite to provide faster internet speeds to its Farmside unit would need more capital.
The shares last traded at 45 cents and have dropped 38 percent so far this year.
