The market closed lower today, reversing Friday's gains. The NZSE50 was down over 1% to end the day at 3,121.
The most actively traded stock on the bourse, with over 11.1 million shares changing hands was Telecom NZ, closing the day down 1% from it's opening to $3.38. The next biggest trader was Fisher & Paykel Appliances, closing at $1.83 with over 2.6 million shares being traded.
Falls outweighed rises by 57 to 24, with the biggest loser being Plus SMS Holdings Ltd, down 6% to 6c, while the star of the day was Allied Work Force Group Ltd up 6% to .72c.
Pumpkin Patch jumped over 2% after multimillionaire Kathmandu founder Jan Cameron
disclosed a 6.3% interest in the children's clothing retailer.
Other major gainers included Freightways 2.4% and Nuplex 3.1%, while major losers
included Auckland International Airport 2.1%, Fisher & Paykel Appliances
2.7% and Guiness Peat Group 2.8%. New Zealand Oil & Gas also fell 2.3%.
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 79.6 points, or 1.57%, to 5002.5, while the broader All Ordinaries dropped 78.3 points, or 1.51%, to 5091.7.
