BREAKING NEWS: Southland Building Society gains bank licence

Southland Building Society has gained registration as a bank, according to a statement from Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Southland Building will continue to be a mutually-owned building society, the statement said. There are now 18 registered banks in New Zealand.
