New Zealand fund manager Gareth Morgan and his wife had to move to higher ground on the Galapagos island of Santa Cruz at the weekend when a tsunami generated by the Japanese earthquake raised water levels.
The parents of internet entreprenuer Sam Morgan have been on a motorcycling tour of the Americas.
The National Business Review reported that son Sam Morgan tweeted "mum and dad stuck up a hill in the Galapagos Islands after tsunami rips through and destroys their hotel".
They were staying at the Finch Bay Hotel.
