Yes, I believe I have understood the dividend situation from your
discussion. Much the same happens in my home country - there is a
withholding tax and an income tax increase for residents, vs. a smaller
withholding tax for non-residents.

(Incidentally since "discovering" the NZSE I keep seeing similarities
between it and the market in Slovenia.)

It was the capital gains tax that had me worried. I am very happy to hear
that there isn't one.

Following your good experience I have written to Access-brokerage and am
awaiting their reply.

Meanwhile the people of stockbroker.co.nz (NZIJ Stockbrokers Ltd) have
replied to me and seem very responsive and open to a guy from nowhere.
Does anyone here trade with them?
