The US market closed higher on Friday, bolstered by optimism for possible negotiations between the US and Iran to end their war and a surge in Intel shares that extended the rally in semiconductor stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.36%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.41% and 0.89% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.56%), the Dax 30 (-0.19%), CAC 40 (-0.19%) and the STOXX (-0.39%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.75%), HSI (-0.95%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.16%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.34%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.799%. Oil was up to $96.67 per barrel, up 2.40%. The gold price was at US$4697.75 per ounce, down 0.91%.
