Grant McBeath will take on the role of Spark's chief executive officer for its home, mobile and business division on an interim basis, replacing Jason Paris who is set to leave early this year.

Spark announced Paris would leave to "take up an appointment with a global company offshore" in December last year. Paris joined Spark in 2011, having previously been in charge of television at MediaWorks' TV3 and before that Television New Zealand's digital media strategy. When his departure was announced, managing director Simon Moutter said Paris had played a pivotal role in successfully rebranding the business to Spark from Telecom, and had driven performance improvement, particularly in mobile.

McBeath, the company's current general manager of customer channels, has been at Spark for five years, and has spent most of that time as general manager of sales, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before that, he worked for Nokia in sales across New Zealand and Asia.

Spark shares last traded at $3.59, down 0.8 percent today and up 3.3 percent in the past 12 months.
