U.S. stock markets closed higher, on continued earnings reports exceeding estimates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.31%, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite rose 0.33% and 0.28%, respectively. 

Other key markets were mixed, with Germany’s DAX 30 gaining 0.14%, Britain’s FTSE 100 unchanged, while France’s CAC 40 slipped 0.2%, In Asia markets were up across the board, with Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rising 1.49%, China’s Shanghai Composite advancing 0.7% and Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 0.65%. 

The U.S. benchmark 10-year Treasury yield hit its highest level since early June, at 1.6302%.

West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell thirty-five cents to $82.09 a barrel and gold jumped $17.20 to $1,782.90 an ounce.
