The US market closed lower on Thursday as the Middle East conflict entered its sixth day, raising concerns of fresh inflation pressures that could complicate the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decisions.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 2.15%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 1.20% and 1.04% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-1.45%), the Dax 30 (-1.61%), CAC 40 (-1.49%) and the STOXX (-1.50%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.90%), HSI (+0.28%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.64%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.142%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.593%. Oil was up to $81.09 per barrel, up 8.61%. The gold price was at US$5078.31 per ounce, down 1.10%.
