Jason Stein has been appointed to the role of Chief People Officer for Meridian Energy. Jason left his previous role as Chief Executive for Meridian Australia following the sale of Meridian’s subsidiary Powershop Australia and Meridian’s Australian renewable generation business in January.
Bharat Ratanpal has been appointed to the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) – a new role on Meridian’s Executive Team.
Meridian’s Chief Executive Neal Barclay says adding the CIO role to Meridian’s Management team recognises the strategic importance of digital transformation to our business. Ratanpal has over 20 years’ experience in leading technology roles in corporates, including Vodafone and Telstra, as well as in the public sector.
“Bharat has a wealth of expertise and has demonstrated his ability to lead, partner and enable others to put customers at the heart of our business through our digital programme,” says Barclay. “Adding Bharat to our Executive Team recognises his personal contribution to Meridian’s progress, having led Meridian’s IT function for five years.”
Jason Stein assumed the Chief People Officer role in an acting capacity in late January, allowing Tania Palmer to move to her new role as General Manager - Generation.
“With a tenure of over 14 years at Meridian in a variety of senior roles, Jason has intimate knowledge of our business and culture. Jason is a superb leader. It is exciting to be able to leverage his experience and skills at a time of growth and change,” adds Barclay.
