The US market closed higher on Tuesday, and the S&P 500 inched closer to record highs as latest economic data support expectations for interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve next year.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.21%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.39% and 0.49% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.24%), the Dax 30 (+0.23%), CAC 40 (-0.21%) and the STOXX (+0.10%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.02%), HSI (-0.11%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.067%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.167%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.53%. Oil was down to $58.04 per barrel, up 2.69%. The gold price was at US$4469.00 per ounce, up 1.86%.
