RaboDirect is pleased to announce the appointment of Melanie Templeton as General Manager for the New Zealand online direct bank. Ms Templeton has extensive experience with the bank both locally and internationally and starts in the role this week.

Templeton’s history with Rabobank and its online savings and investments arm RaboDirect will bring valuable institutional and industry knowledge to the role, Greg McAweeney, Executive Manager for RaboDirect Australia & New Zealand said.

“We are delighted to appoint Mel to this role. She brings huge energy to driving a successful business and a real focus on what customers want,” McAweeney said.

“Having worked with us for six years, Mel has a deep knowledge and understanding of the bank. She has held senior roles with RaboDirect in Australasia and Europe with a focus on strategic marketing and business development.

“In fact, Mel was part of establishing RaboDirect in New Zealand in 2006, so it’s great to see her come full circle with the business,” he said.

A returning Kiwi-Scot, Templeton is looking forward to taking up her new role in what she says is an exciting time for the bank.

“More than anything else, in today’s environment I believe people want to move on and get ahead. They don’t want to be held back by restrictions or limitations on their savings and I’m looking forward to showing how RaboDirect delivers on that,” she said.

“I’m determined to make sure we continue to be the bank that gives consistently top rates on savings to our customers.”

Ben Russell, General Manager for Rabobank New Zealand said the greater Rabobank team were delighted with Ms Templeton’s appointment and looked forward to seeing RaboDirect’s continued success in the savings sector under her leadership.

Templeton joins RaboDirect New Zealand from RaboDirect Australia where she was Marketing Manager.
