US markets closed lower on Thursday as high inflation and rising interest rates sparked concerns about an economic slowdown. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.33%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.13% and up 0.06% respectively.
Other key markets ended down. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-1.56%), the Dax 30 (-0.64%), CAC 40 (-1.01%) and the STOXX (-0.94%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-1.77%), HSI (-2.24%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.12%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 2.855%, while the 2 - year note was at 2.58%. Oil was up to $107.8 per barrel, up 0.32%. The gold price was at US$1821.76per ounce, down 1.73%.
