The chief executive of listed brewer DB is leaving to become MD for the Guiness Anchor Berhad Brewery in Malaysia.

DB chairman, David Sadler, says the company's CEO, Jac van Herpen, will leave in January to take up new position.

Mr Sadler says the directors of DB Group are pleased with the contribution that Mr van Herpen has made to the company during his time in New Zealand.

"In the three years that Mr van Herpen has been with DB Breweries the beer industry has experienced significant changes including the introduction of supermarket trading. This presented a major change in the way we went about doing our business and his contribution greatly assisted in a smooth transition to this new business channel."

DB last week announced it was selling its Corbans wine business to Montana, as part of a restructuring aimed at getting back to its core beer business.

The company says following Mr van Herpen's departure, Mr Brian Blake, Group Managing Director of DB Group, will take over direct management control of the company.
