The US market closed higher on Monday, as investors looked for signs of progress toward a US-Iran ceasefire deal and evaluated President Trump's progressively heated threats of escalation should Iran fail to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.35%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.45% and 0.54% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.69%), the Dax 30 (-0.56%), CAC 40 (-0.24%) and the STOXX (-0.70%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.49%), HSI (-0.70%) and the Shanghai Composite (-1.00%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.337%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.85%. Oil was up to $112.67 per barrel, up 1.01%. The gold price was at US$4677.67 per ounce, down 0.04%.
