The US market closed higher on Thursday, as optimism grew about a deal to end the Iran war, while traders digested a buffet of economic data and critical earnings reports.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.24%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.26% and 0.36% respectively.

Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.29%), the Dax 30 (+0.36%), CAC 40 (-0.14%) and the STOXX (-0.12%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+2.38%), HSI (+1.72%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.70%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.313%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.778%. Oil was up to $93.49 per barrel, up 2.41%. The gold price was at US$4810.61 per ounce, down 0.27%.
