US markets closed higher on Tuesday as investors digested a fresh round of solid retail earnings and economic data. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 1.34%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 2.02% and 2.76% respectively.
Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.72%), the Dax 30 (+1.59%), CAC 40 (+1.30%) and the STOXX (+1.52%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.42%), HSI (+3.27%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.65%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 2.995%, while the 2 - year note was at 2.711%. Oil was up to $112.7 per barrel, down 1.39%. The gold price was at US$1814.77per ounce, down 0.67%.
