The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed higher on Friday, lifted by optimism the US could soon reach a trade deal with the European Union, while Deckers Outdoor surged following a strong quarter for the maker of UGG boots and Hoka sneakers.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.47%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.40% and 0.24% respectively.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.20%), the Dax 30 (-0.32%), CAC 40 (+0.21%) and the STOXX (-0.06%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.88%), HSI (-1.09%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.33%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.386%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.884%. Oil was up to $65.16 per barrel, down 1.32%. The gold price was at US$3392.50 per ounce, down 1.12%.
