The sharemarket fell slightly today with the NZSE50 down -0.62% to end the day at 3,357.
Shares of Telecom Corp, were down 7.61% after it said profit will decline as much as 30% this year, the second consecutive slide in earnings.
Contact Energy advanced 1.16% and Fletcher Building decreased 1.62%.
Retailers were mixed with Hallenstein Glasson slipping 1.75% but The Warehouse Group was up .88% and Pumpkin Patch was up 3.82%.
Rakon was up 5.96% but BLIS Technologies was down 7.1%.
Westpac Banking Corp, was up 3.48% today after saying its profit will rise this year, courtesy of the bank's decision to limit exposure to riskier credit instruments.
It was a great day for Plus SMS Holdings who jumped 33% and Pulse Utilities who increased 34%.
Things weren't quite so rosy for Propertyfinance group Ltd., the finance company that emerged from receivership in February. They had their stock suspended for failing to file an annual report.
The benchmark S&P/ASX-200 share index recovered early falls to end up 0.1% for the day, or 2.9 points, at 4986.2 points.
The Dow lost 224.64, or 1.93%, to 11,431.43. The Standard & Poor's 500
index shed 23.12, or 1.79%, to 1,266.07, and the NASDAQ fell 22.64, or 0.95%,
to 2,355.73.
