Queenstown Airport handled 13,186 international passengers in March, up 77.9% on the same month last year, while domestic passenger numbers grew by 3.1%.
The figures were released by part owner Auckland Airport, which itself experienced a 1.4% rise in international passenger numbers in March from a year ago and a 0.6% fall in domestic passenger numbers.
Additional Jetstar capacity has contributed to the lift in passenger numbers at Queenstown.
The international passenger numbers at Auckland Airport were seen as firm, post the Christchurch earthquake on February 22.
