The redevelopment of the Monteith's brewery in Greymouth is due to begin on Friday, with decommissioning of ageing brewing equipment.
Production of the Monteith's range would temporarily move to Mainland Brewery near Timaru, until completion of the redevelopment in March, Monteith's said today.
The project is expected to cost about $4 million.
Monteith’s Brewery manager Tony Mercer said he was working on new brews to celebrate the brewery’s re-opening in spring.
Visitor numbers at the Greymouth brewery are expected to rise to 40,000 by 2014, compared to 16,500 now.
