US markets ended mixed on Friday. A roaring rally in US stocks will face a gauntlet of economic data, looming political uncertainty and a corporate earnings test in coming weeks as investors navigate one of the most volatile periods of year for equity markets.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.09%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.19% and 0.36%.
Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-1.19%), the Dax 30 (-1.49%), CAC 40 (-1.51%) and the STOXX (-1.45%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+1.53%), HSI (+1.36%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.029%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.741%, while the 2 - year note was at 3.597%. Oil was up to $71.25 per barrel, up 0.35%. The gold price was at US$2647.10 per ounce, up 0.03%.
