October 10th Morning Report

Us market closed sharply lower on Friday following a solid jobs report for September that increased the likelihood the Federal Reserve will barrel ahead with an interest rate hiking campaign many investors fear will push the US economy into a recession. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 2.11%. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite was down 2.80% and 3.80% respectively.

In Europe key markets ended lower. The FTSE100 was down 0.09% , while the DAX30 was down 1.59% and the CAC40 was down 1.17%, the STOXX600 was down 1.69%. 

 Asian markets ended lower. The Shanghai Composite (-0.55%) and the Hong Kong Hang Seng (-1.51%), Nikkei 225 (-0.71%) and South Korea’s KOSPI (-0.22%) were all down.
