Meridian director resigns

State-owned Meridian Energy says Brett Shepherd has resigned as a director with immediate effect.

Shepherd became a director on May 1, 2009 and is also the chief executive officer of Deutsche Bank AG New Zealand.

The company did not give a reason for his departure.

Shepherd is a senior investment banker in New Zealand specialising for much of his career in the area of mergers and acquisitions, which includes the buying and selling of government owned businesses.
