2nd February 2022 Morning Report

U.S. market ended lower on Tuesday with a new month beginning in volatility. Investors weighed mixed economy and inflation data against big-name U.S. companies.  

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up 0.19%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were up 0.05% and down 0.09%, respectively. 

Other key markets ended higher. European stocks closed lower as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.96%), the Dax 30 (+0.96%), CAC 40 (+1.43%) and the STOXX (+1.19%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices ended mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.28%), HSI (+1.07%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.97%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 1.78%, while the 2 - year note was at 1.169%. Oil was down to $91.21 per barrel, up 1.31%. The gold price was at US$1797.11 per ounce, up 0.43%.
