The US market closed lower on Thursday, pausing after a strong start to the week, as investors digested the latest round of corporate earnings and looked for signs of progress toward a peace deal between the US and Iran.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average down 0.85%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.18% and 0.06% respectively.
Other key markets ended lower. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (-0.19%), the Dax 30 (+0.05%), CAC 40 (+0.35%) and the STOXX (+0.39%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed higher. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(-0.93%), HSI (-1.49%) and the Shanghai Composite (+0.57%).
The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 4.68%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.25%. Oil was down to $78.29 per barrel, up 4.08%. The gold price was at US$4298.45 per ounce, down 0.16%.
