8 October 2025 – Rakon Ltd (NZX: RAK ) a world leading manufacturer of precision timing and frequency control solutions, today announced a key production milestone for its cutting-edge Mercury plus(R) product line at the company’s advanced manufacturing facility in Bengaluru, India.
The Mercury plus(R) product line was transferred from Rakon’s New Zealand facility into the Bengaluru facility earlier this year and has now completed internal testing and the initial ramp-up for volume production.
The on-schedule delivery of this milestone is important validation of the company’s strategy to leverage its global footprint through product transfers that expand manufacturing capacity and efficiency, enhance resilience, drive R&D innovation and support next-gen customer programs.
Chief Executive, Sinan Altug, says the ramp-up is a key milestone in Rakon’s FY26-FY28 growth strategy and that the continued execution of its strategy will include further actions to capitalise on competitive advantages from its global manufacturing operations – which includes locations in New Zealand, India and France.
“The Mercury plus(R) product line contains some of our high volume, cutting-edge products for telecommunications and AI & data centre applications. By successfully transferring and ramping-up this line in our new facility in India we expect to realise key benefits aligned to our 2026 Annual Operating Plan, including improved overhead structure, extended product lifecycles and competitive product costs.
“This transfer reiterates our long-term commitment to expanding our integrated global manufacturing operations and leveraging this competitive advantage. We are planning to build on Rakon’s global manufacturing and R&D footprint, scaling progressively across our existing locations to enable further efficiencies.”
The state-of-the-art 9,290m2 Bengaluru facility was inaugurated in 2023 and immediately doubled Rakon’s production capacity, with further capacity able to be brought online as needed thereby future-proofing operations.
Under Rakon’s integrated global operations strategy, its locations in New Zealand, India, France, and other global sites continue to play an expanded role in the delivery of R&D, product development and manufacturing. Diversifying production across these locations enables Rakon to realise efficiencies, maintain strategic supplier status in key markets, and lower global production risk – providing supply chain certainty for customers and additional flexibility for responding to geopolitical developments.
The increased capacity created by the Bengaluru facility also enables a key capability for Rakon to meet current and future domestic product demand in India as a strategic supplier under the Government of India’s 'Make in India' initiative.
“As India's largest manufacturer and exporter of frequency control and timing products, we're encouraged by the strategic view that India has taken to support and catalyse the electronics and semiconductor industries and we continue to forge strong relationships as a local strategic supplier under the 'Make in India' initiative,” says Altug.
A key example of Rakon’s local relationships include partnerships with leading Indian Space agency, ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), as well as a large number of private entities in India’s Space industry where there is high interest in the company’s cutting-edge GNSS receiver and Master Reference Oscillator products for Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
Rakon also continues to play an active role in the local manufacture of cutting edge wireless network technologies to support India’s 5G network and data centre infrastructure.

Rakon’s Indian operations and Bengaluru facility
Rakon inaugurated its state of the art research and manufacturing facility, located in the SEZ Aerospace Park, Bengaluru in June 2023. This facility is one of the world's largest and most sophisticated research and manufacturing sites for advanced frequency control and timing solutions, with a total built-up area of 9,290 square metres (or 100,000 square feet) across three levels. The building design also allows for two additional levels to be added in future.
Rakon has been operating in India for over 16 years and currently employs over 300 people at its Bengaluru facility. The new facility replaced Rakon's former leased sites in Bengaluru, and both futureproofs its India operations and affirms Rakon's long-term commitment to growing its Indian operations. The facility was designed in accordance with sustainable building practices regarding the use of water and energy and is expected to attain LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification.
