State-owned Mighty River Power is rejigging its management structure, creating five general manager positions directly reporting to chief executive Doug Heffernan.

All generation business development activities, both domestic and international, will be led by Mark Trigg as general manager of development. Trigg is a former senior executive of Contact Energy and a former money market dealer at Southpac.

Company-wide generation operations including hydro, thermal and geothermal will be consolidated under Fraser Whineray, general manager of operations. Whineray is a former Carter Holt Harvey executive and also worked at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Both men are existing senior managers at Mighty River Power.

Bridget O'Shannessey has joined the company in the new role of general manager of human resources.

James Munro, general manager of consumer markets will take on responsibility for corporate communications and legal in addition to his Mercury Energy and Metrix management roles.

William Meek, chief financial officer, will further the company's drive to greater transparency and disclosure, while retaining his finance and information services responsibilities.

In June, Mighty River Power said earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and Amortisation and financial instruments for the financial year to June 2010 would be at the lower end of a range of $315m-350m.
