April 21st Morning Report

US markets closed lower on Thursday after disappointing quarterly reports from companies including Tesla and AT&T, while investors sought clarity on the path of interest rates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 0.23%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were down 0.01% and up 0.03% respectively. 

Other key markets ended mixed. European stocks closed as follows: the FTSE100 (+0.05%), the Dax 30 (-0.62%), CAC 40 (-0.14%) and the STOXX (-0.20%). In Asia, the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices closed mixed. The key Asian indices ended yesterday as follows: Nikkei 225(+0.18%), HSI (+0.14%) and the Shanghai Composite (-0.092%).

The yield on the US 10 - year note was at 3.536%, while the 2 - year note was at 4.151%. Oil was up to $77.29 per barrel, down 2.36%. The gold price was at US$2016.40 per ounce, up 0.45%.
