The chief financial officer at New Zealand's mega-retailer The Warehouse (NZSE: WHS) is stepping aside to spend more time with his family.

Warehouse CEO, Greg Muir, says the company's CFO Brent Waldron will resign from his position at the end of next month.

Mr Waldron has been with The Warehouse since 1997 and Mr Muir says that in that time he has worked tirelessly in greatly improving processes, systems and overall capability in the finance and accounting area.

"He has been a major contributor to the success of our company and has been intimately involved with many of the watershed decisions in The Warehouse, including the purchase of the retail operation in Australia, during the last five years.

"Ironically, it is due to the frequent trips required to Australia that Brent has decided that the ongoing requirement for so much time spent out of New Zealand is not compatible with his commitments to his family."

Mr Muir says the company has begun a search for a new CFO.
